SETTING
The principal action of the play takes place aboard the Orient Express as it travels from Istanbul to Western Europe during 1934.
I’ve had my eye on this play for a few years. . .I knew the right pieces would have to fall into place to bring it to our stage, and this year that happened. When I read Agatha Christie’s novel, I was carried away by the fun, frenzied, complex characters and was instantly excited for the potential of staging a period piece on a train featuring multiple accents and dialects. I knew we’d need the right talent at the right time. We could not have dreamed of a better cast for this play. Each individual person found a way to dedicate effort, excellence, and artistry to their role while still contributing fully to the team. I realized early in our rehearsal process just how talented this crew of actors is; they had instant chemistry, vulnerability, creative collaboration, and trust. They dove in and within a couple of weeks the wheels were in motion. We have had the incredible support of the costume team, stage crew and tech crew and the creative talent and dedication these students have given to their craft elevated our work in rehearsals. We have had so much fun on this project and we can’t wait to lead you on the chase as you journey alongside Hercule Poirot on The Orient Express!
